Binangonan ramps up cleaning, greening programs ahead of rainy season

The municipal government of Binangonan is urging residents to actively participate in local clean-up drives to help prevent flooding during the rainy season.

Mayor Ma. Elvira Cecille “Rhea” Rivera Ynares reminded the public of their crucial role in keeping neighborhoods clean, especially with the onset of seasonal rains.

Communities are encouraged to work hand in hand with the local government, particularly in initiatives led by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).

Local officials emphasized that lakeshore villages face the highest risk of flooding.

To mitigate these hazards, the local government is asking residents to clear nearby drainage systems and canals to ensure waterways remain unobstructed.

Proper waste management at the household level is also being highlighted as part of the local government’s contribution to the provincial government’s Ynares to Eco System (YES) program.

According to Mayor Ynares, these pro-environment measures are vital to creating a cleaner, safer, and more comfortable town for everyone.
