CEBU CITY – Gov. Pamela Baricuatro has issued an Executive Order (EO) to strengthen security in schools in Cebu province.
EO No. 35 established the Cebu Safe Schools Program, which sets uniform policies to prevent violence, enhance emergency response, and provide mental health services to all schools in the province.
Among the security measures provided in the EO is the establishment of an anti-bullying hotline.
The governor's EO came as more local government units in Cebu took steps to ensure the safety of students in response to the deadly shooting at the San Jose National High School in Tacloban City recently.
In Mandaue City, the Local School Board recommended the installing of more additional CCTV cameras in schools.
The use of handheld metal detectors for inspection is also being eyed.
Mandaue is intensifying its live monitoring system in public and private schools for faster communication and emergency response.
Mayor Jonkie Ouano ordered the conduct of symposiums for parents as part of promoting positive parenting and effective communication with their children.
The meetings discussed self-defense and safety awareness programs for all students in public and private schools in Mandaue.
