Negros barangay mourns death of SK chairman in motorcycle crash

BACOLOD CITY – Barangay Yao-yao, Cauayan, Negros Occidental mourned the death of a 26-year-old Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman and teacher in a motorcycle collision in Crossing Biaren, Barangay Manalad, Ilog, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, June 17.
Police identified the victim as Vincent Toledo.
Investigation said the motorcycle driven by 29-year-old Jon of Ilog, Negros Occidental, overtook a vehicle and slammed into the motorcycle of the victim. Both riders sustained head injuries.
Toledo was declared dead in a hospital while Jon died soon after, Police Major Randy Babor, Ilog police chief.
"Chairman Vincent was more than a leader. He was a friend, a mentor, a teacher, and a source of hope for many young people. His passion for service and his love for the youth of Yao-Yao will never be forgotten," the barangay said in a Facebook post.
The barangay thanked him for his sacrifices, service, kindness, and memories shared in the community. "Your journey on earth may have ended, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of the people," it said.
The Kabankalan Catholic College Inc. (KCC) where Toledo worked also mourned his passing. They described the victim as a dedicated educator, mentor, and friend.
"Sir Vincent touched countless lives through his commitment to teaching, his compassion for others, and his unwavering service to the KCC family," the school said in a Facebook post.
His wisdom, kindness, and positive influence will forever remain in the hearts of his students, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him, KCC added.
