GMA Network Inc. is making a major play in the music industry, teaming up with Viva Music Group in a 50-50 joint venture that aims to reshape how Original Pilipino Music (OPM) is produced, promoted, and distributed.
Through GMV Studios, the partnership will cover a wide range of music-related businesses, including production, recording, marketing, promotion, distribution, artist management, and publishing.
The new deal brings GMA Network Inc. and Viva Communications Inc's partnership into a more structured and ambitious phase.
The contract signing was attended by key executives from both sides, including GMA Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle GMA Artist Center First Vice President Joy Marcelo, and Assistant Vice President Tracy Garcia. Representing Viva were Chairman and CEO Vicente “Boss Vic” del Rosario Jr., Vicor Music President and COO Antonio M. Ocampo, and Viva Records President Verb del Rosario.
Also present were Viva Communications Inc. President Vincent del Rosario and Studio Viva President and COO Valerie del Rosario.
Artists and industry figures from Sparkle also showed support during the signing, including consultant Lawrence Tan and performers Ysabel Ortega, Jeff Moses, Anthony Rosaldo, Princess Aliyah, Vianna Ricafranca, and P-pop group Dollipop.
