Toddler found dead beside adoptive mom in Batangas

ALITAGTAG, Batangas – A two-year-old boy was found dead with his adoptive mother beside him unconscious in their house in Barangay Muzon here on Friday night, June 12.
Investigation said Marlon, 49, who was renting a room near the victim's house, brought food to the victims but nobody answered the door.
Marlon returned to his room but later on decided to return to the victims’ house to check on them again.
Due to the unusual silence inside the house, he informed barangay officials who arrived and called the occupants. They looked through a window and saw that the interior of the house in disarray.
Barangay officials sought assistance from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and emergency responders.
They found the boy lying on the bedroom floor and his 61-year-old adoptive mother naked and unconscious on the bed.
The victims were taken to a hospital where the child was declared dead and the woman undergoing treatment.
Police said she was conscious but physically weak and unable to provide any statement regarding the incident.
The woman is considered a person of interest (POI) and allegedly had a history of depression.
Police are awaiting the autopsy result on the child who had no scars or wounds in the body.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
