CANDON CITY – Reigning champion Vietnam flexed its might anew after cruising past Hong Kong, 25-9, 25-18, 25-11, to go two in a row in the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup here at the Candon City Arena Sunday, June 7.
The Vietnamese team bared its fangs anew, with Thi Nhu Quynh Vi obliterating the defense of the Hong Kong bets to wrap up the match in a straight-set fashion once more.
The reigning three-time champion Vietnam, which improved to 2-0 in Pool A, meets Indonesia this Monday, June 8.
Hong Kong, on the other hand, seeks its first win in the continental showpiece when it battles Lebanon.
Quynh carried the scoring cudgels for Vietnam with 11 points, while Thi Uyen Nguyen posted seven points. Thanh Thuy Le and Nhu Anh Le chipped in six points.
Teenager Sum Yuen Tang starred for Hong Kong after listing nine points, while Lam Shum added five points all in a losing effort.
Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei dispatched a hapless Kyrgyzstan side, 25-14, 25-11, 25-17, to open its campaign on a high note.
Ko-Hui Kan paced the Taiwenese with 14 points, while Yu-Chun Tsai and Zhen-Xuan Xu contributed 11 and 11 points, respectively.
On the other hand, Raiana Baiamanova powered the Kyrgyz hitters off eight points as they dropped to 0-2 hole.
Up next for Taipei is Australia this Monday, June 8, while Kyrgyzstan hopes to clinch its first victory against the host Philippines.
