The Quezon City government on Friday, June 5, assured that jeepney operations will continue without disruption despite the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Katipunan Understory project.
In a statement, the city government said it is coordinating with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and jeepney operators’ groups, including the Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (Balara Katipunan and Tambucho), to ensure that public transport services will not be affected during the project.
Officials clarified that jeepney drivers and operators will not be displaced, despite concerns raised over the rehabilitation works.
Loading and terminal areas will be temporarily relocated but will remain within the same vicinity to ensure continued access for commuters.
Authorities and transport stakeholders agreed to maintain close coordination during the project implementation to ensure orderly operations and uninterrupted transport service.
“The rehabilitation aims to transform the area into a safer, more orderly, and greener public space for the benefit of the community,” the city government said.
