LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) will establish 1,399 police assistance desks across the province for the opening of classes on June 8.
Pangasinan PPO information officer Police Capt. Aileen Catugas said the assistance desks will be situated near schools and other convergence areas, such as transport terminals, to assist students and parents.
There are 1,398 public schools in the province that will welcome students on June 8.
"A total of 663 police personnel, together with 759 force multipliers and 82 from other units, will be deployed for the opening of classes," she said.
Pangasinan PPO officer-in-charge Police Col. Dennis de Leon said his marching orders to police personnel are to be vigilant against criminals.
He asked them to handle complaints and reports in a respectful manner and asked the public to report rude officers.
De Leon said the police participated in "Brigada Eskwela" (School Brigade) by providing security.
Meanwhile, De Leon underscored the importance of compassion, professionalism, and respect in every police station across the province, reminding officers that public service should never be influenced by a person's appearance, clothing, or social status.
De Leon met chiefs of police in the province and emphasized that every individual seeking assistance in a police station deserves to be welcomed, heard, and treated with dignity.
He urged police personnel to foster an environment where citizens feel safe and comfortable reporting incidents, seeking help, and voicing their concerns.
According to De Leon, the true measure of public service lies in how officers treat the people they serve.
He stressed that every member of the Philippine National Police must uphold fairness, integrity, and courtesy in every interaction with the public.
"Respect should never depend on appearance. Every citizen who walks into a police station deserves equal treatment, understanding, and quality service," De Leon said. (With PNA)
