Renna Hechanova-Angeles, the vice chairman, treasurer, and director of Concepcion Industrial Corp., has died. She was 70.

Hechanova-Angeles, the eldest member of the prominent Concepcion family’s third generation, passed away after a career deeply intertwined with one of the country’s leading industrial conglomerates. A core fixture of the company's leadership, she also served on its executive committee as well as the corporate governance, nominations, and remuneration committee, according to a disclosure filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Known widely within the organization by her initials “RHA,” Hechanova-Angeles was considered a foundational pillar of the air conditioner and refrigerator manufacturer. The company credited her with driving significant corporate growth, strengthening governance frameworks, and shaping its long-term strategic direction. The board, management, and employees expressed deep loss over the passing of a leader they described as a guiding force who championed a corporate culture of professionalism and integrity.

Her influence extended well beyond the industrial sector. Recognized by Tatler Asia as one of the most powerful women in the Philippines, Hechanova-Angeles dedicated much of her private life to philanthropy and child advocacy.

She was a long-time member of the board of trustees for the Child Protection Network, a non-governmental organization focused on the prevention and treatment of child abuse. She was an outspoken advocate for vulnerable youth, publicly stating that abuse of any form must be eradicated and committing herself to securing safe environments for children nationwide.

Through her leadership at the organization, Hechanova-Angeles helped oversee the establishment and operation of more than 140 Women and Children Protection Units across the country. These units, embedded within local hospitals, function as critical sanctuaries providing specialized medical, legal, and psychological recovery care for young survivors of trauma.

To fund these initiatives, she spearheaded major fundraising campaigns, including high-profile auction galas and public donation drives such as the Help Abused Kids campaign. These efforts raised millions of pesos, directly financing full-year medical and mental health treatments for hundreds of children throughout the Philippines. (James A. Loyola)
