Three suspects were arrested after allegedly ganging up on a Quezon City Police District (QCPD) officer who caught them vandalizing a fence along Eulogio Rodriguez Avenue in Quezon City.
The incident occurred in the early morning of May 29 when a Police Station 12 officer of the QCPD confronted the suspects while they were defacing a metal fence. He introduced himself as a law enforcement officer.
Instead of complying, the suspects allegedly assaulted the officer before fleeing the area.
Follow-up operations led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, District Intelligence Division, and Police Station 12 resulted in the arrest of one suspect on the same day, while the two others later voluntarily surrendered with the assistance of barangay officials.
The suspects will face charges for vandalism under Quezon City Ordinance No. SP-3163, S-2022 and the Quezon City Anti-Vandalism Ordinance No. SP-2342, S-2014, as well as direct assault with physical injury before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, QCPD director, stressed that vandalism is not a harmless act and warned that violence against law enforcers will be met with appropriate legal action.
