CEBU CITY – The province of Bohol is gearing up for its biggest annual celebration.
Preparations are underway for “Sandugo sa Bohol” on July 25.
Gov. Aris Aumentado recently presided over a meeting that brought together provincial offices and stakeholders to discuss key preparations for this year’s celebration.
The festival will be highlighted by the street-dancing competition in Panglao.
During the meeting, it was discussed that the competition will be limited to 10 to 12 participants due to budget constraints.
The scaled-down Sandugo celebration is part of the austerity measures that the province is taking due to the current global crisis brought by the conflict in the Middle East.
One of the major decisions made during the meeting was the cancellation of the Miss Bohol pageant, which is one of the key events of Sandugo.
The province decided to shelve Miss Bohol this year to have more budget for rice distribution programs.
It was also during the meeting that the province reaffirmed its support for the fundraising concert for aspiring local artists.
According to the province’s public information office, more coordination meetings will be conducted in the coming weeks to ensure the success of Sandugo.
