'Inyo na': Jonvic hits back at petition for salary cut

Amid online petition for a pay cut for alleged sloppy work in hunting down fugitives, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Juanito Victor “Jonvic’’ Remulla said his critics could take his entire salary as he was not touching it since he assumed the Cabinet post. 
Remulla said that the salary is never the reason why he works in the government, but "out of duty and for the good of the country."
The group claimed that Remulla consistently “failed to uphold his mandate” since his installation to the Cabinet in 2024.
In Remulla’s two-year tenure in office, the group said that the DILG has failed to arrest corrupt politicians and personalities, including Zaldy Co, Atong Ang, Harry Roque, and Gerald Bantag. His inaction, that eventually let Bato dela Rosa evade accountability, is the final straw in a long line of incompetence and dereliction of duty,” the group said.
Instead of apprehending high-profile local and international fugitives, the group claimed that Remulla focused his energy in detaining close to 120,000 working class and young Filipinos for vagrancy violations during the height of the oil price crisis in April.
“Remulla’s Safer Cities Initiative, much like many of his other operations, failed to portray him as a tough guy on crime, while wasting government resources on a near-sighted, anti-poor measure,” it added.
The group highlighted that Remulla receives an annual salary of P4.672 million based on the Commission on Audit (COA) report.
