TACLOBAN CITY – The Borongan City government is returning to the five-day work week starting Monday, May 18, after Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda revoked Executive Order No. BC-1203-0010.
The EO adopted energy conservation measures in line with Memorandum Circular No. 114 issued by President Marcos and implemented a four-day compressed work week.
“All offices, departments, divisions, units, and personnel of the city government of Borongan shall observe the regular five-day work schedule, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., subject to existing laws, civil service rules, office-specific exigencies, and subsequent issuances.”
Agda directed all offices and personnel to continue observing reasonable energy conservation practices.
Measures include turning off unused lights, equipment, and devices; reducing unnecessary appliance use; using natural light and ventilation when suitable; opting for virtual meetings and digital communication to cut travel and fuel use; optimizing government vehicle use via better scheduling and route planning, and applying other steps to lower electricity and fuel consumption in government operations.
