'Pagod na ako': Former beauty queen Lara Quigaman shocks fans by embracing white hair after years of hiding it
Former beauty queen Lara Quigaman is drawing praise online after making an emotional and deeply personal revelation about finally embracing her natural white hair following years of trying to hide it.
In a candid Instagram video, the former Miss International 2005 titleholder unveiled her new look and spoke openly about the pressure she felt to constantly appear “perfect” in the public eye.
“Ilang taon ko tinago, tiniis, tinakpan… and I’m done. Pagod na ako. Ayoko na,” she wrote in the caption of her post, which quickly resonated with many social media users.
Lara Quigaman revealed that she first noticed strands of white hair at just 12 years old, explaining that premature graying runs in their family.
“Since my early thirties, I have been dyeing my hair almost every two weeks just to cover the whites we got from our papa,” she shared.
According to her, their father’s hair had already turned nearly all white while he was still in his 30s — a trait inherited by her and her siblings.
But beyond the transformation, Lara said her decision represents something much deeper: letting go of unrealistic beauty standards and learning to accept herself fully.
“I’m finally letting go of ‘perfection’ and embracing my God-given white hair that comes not just with age, but with genetics too,” she said.
The former beauty queen also addressed comments often associated with aging, saying she is no longer hurt by labels tied to getting older.
“So call me Lola or grandma, it’s okay… I’m going to try and rock this white hair,” she wrote.
Still, Lara admitted that embracing the change remains a difficult journey.
“I know it’s not going to be easy because sometimes I look in the mirror and just want to cover it all up again. That’s why I’m posting this now… to give myself courage,” she added.
Many netizens praised the actress and former beauty queen for her honesty, with supporters calling her post empowering and relatable, especially for women struggling with insecurities about aging and appearance.
