A 22-year-old man sustained severe burns after being electrocuted and plunging from a post at the corner of Tayuman and Perfecto Streets in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Monday, May 11.
The victim, identified as Adrian Tarinting, was immediately assisted by personnel of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
According to responders, the patient sustained burns on his back, as well as both arms and legs, after being hit by an electrical current before falling from the post.
He was found lying in a prone position but remained alert and conscious. A head-to-toe examination showed that around 63 percent of his body had been burned.
The victim was given immediate first aid at the scene, with vital signs taken and recorded, before being loaded onto a stretcher using a scoop and transported to the Philippine General Hospital.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.
