BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Greg Gasataya here on Labor Day honored workers as the backbone of the economy and the driving force behind every milestone of development the city achieves.
Beyond technical skills, Gasataya recognized the profound sacrifices the workers make, the time away from loved ones, and the tireless dedication to their respective crafts.
“Their hard work is the true measure of Bacolod and our nation's strength and resilience,” he said.
He offered his deepest gratitude and highest respect to every worker who builds, serves, and sustains the city.
“We stand with you and we are with you every step of the way as we navigate the current crisis,” the mayor said.
Out of 2,894 registered applicants, 2,775 qualified during the 124th Labor Day Job Fair at the Main Atrium of SM City Bacolod.
According to the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), 88 were hired on the spot.
More than 50 local and international companies joined the job fair offering 11,000 local and overseas job vacancies.
With the theme “Disenteng Trabaho para sa Lahat: Iisang Hangarin, Bagong Pilipinas Sama-samang Mararating,” the activity was led by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Negros Island Region (NIR) and Negros Occidental Field Office in partnership with PESO Bacolod.
