ILOILO CITY – The Office of Civil Defense cited the province of Iloilo, 30 towns, and the component city of Passi for their outstanding programs on disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).
Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. and Cornelio Salinas, chief of the Provincial DRRM Office, received the gold award during an April 28 awarding ceremony.
Also receiving the gold award from OCD Administrator Undersecretary Harold Cabreros and OCD-6 Regional Director Raul Fernandez were the component city of Passi as well as the towns of Anilao, Carles, Leganes, Maasin, Mina, and Pavia.
Twenty-four LGUs bagged the silver award – Alimodian, Badiangan, Barotac Viejo, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Calinog, Concepcion, Dingle, Dumangas, Guimbal, Igbaras, Lambunao, Leon, Miagao, New Lucena, Oton, Pototan, San Dionisio, San Enrique, Santa Barbara, Sara, Tigbauan, Tubungan, and Zarraga.
The OCD-6 awarded the Passi City Responders and Calinog Search and Rescue as best government emergency management teams.
