A multi-sector alliance endorsed on Wednesday, April 29, the Duterte–Singson tandem and launched the “Sara–Chavit 2028” nationwide caravan to rally support for the 2028 national and local elections.
The coalition, composed of civic groups, business leaders, religious organizations, members of the legal profession, media practitioners, retired military personnel, and representatives from Muslim and Indigenous communities, presented itself as a unified national movement.
In a press conference, the group expressed full support for Vice President Sara Duterte’s presidential bid, citing her experience from local government to the vice presidency and her record in public service.
Organizers said Duterte’s leadership is seen as key to sustaining economic growth, strengthening peace and order, and advancing national development centered on the welfare of Filipinos.
The alliance also endorsed former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson as vice presidential candidate, citing his long public service and contributions to provincial development.
They described Singson as a dependable partner with a strong sense of accountability and “word of honor,” underscoring his role as a steady counterpart in national leadership.
The group said its formation followed Duterte’s declaration on Feb. 28 of her intent to run for president, which prompted various sectors to consolidate support behind the tandem.
It also cited a May 30, 2025 press conference at the same venue where former political allies withdrew their support from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and declared backing for Duterte, describing it as a key turning point in the formation of the movement.
Framing the tandem as a blend of leadership, experience, and continuity, the coalition called on Filipinos to support what it described as a path toward a more stable and secure Philippines.
The group said it will roll out caravan activities nationwide in the coming months to further expand its base and mobilize support for the 2028 elections.
