ILOILO CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) kicked off their climate-resilient housing program dubbed Luntiang Bukas with Western Visayas region as the pilot area on Friday.
DENR Secretary Juan Miguel T. Cuna and DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon “Ping” Aliling led the national launching of the Marcos administration program here.
Highlight of the event was the distribution of 820 land titles – 647 agricultural and 142 residential lands – for beneficiaries in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the City of Iloilo.
“We are taking concrete steps to reduce the fear of displacement by securing land tenure for many Filipino families, which lays a stronger foundation from which you can plan your future with greater confidence,” said Cuna.
An additional 31 special land titles were distributed to other institutions in Western Visayas.
Luntiang Bukas is anchored on climate-resilient housing, sustainable green spaces, and sustainable livelihood.
The Iloilo provincial government led by Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. awarded certificates of entitlement to beneficiaries of their climate resilient housing program dubbed Purok Resilience.
The Iloilo City government under Mayor Raisa Treñas also awarded certificates of entitlement to beneficiaries. Rice subsidies were distributed.
The DENR and DHSUD will implement Luntiang Bukas in other parts of the country.
