NARCARLAN, Laguna – Gov. Sol Aragones launched a community pantry in the third district of this province here on Monday, April 13.
The pantry will purchase vegetables from farmers in this town in coordination with Mayor Elmor Vita for distribution to the people for free.
Aragones is confident that the “Libreng Gulay sa Laguna” pantry will strengthen food security and benefit consumers and farmers by ensuring that locally grown vegetables are directly sourced from farmers and efficiently distributed to communities in need across the province.
She is planning to work out a way to market farmers' produce to Laguna malls.
“We will not accept that we will not help. We thought of setting up a Laguna pantry. We have helped the public; we have also helped the farmers,” she said.
The pantry is also expected to be implemented in the other districts of the province.
