Suspect in murder of Lebanese, Filipino wife nabbed in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities arrested the suspect in the murder of a Lebanese and his wife here on Friday in Lantawan municipality, Basilan province at dawn on Monday, April 13.
The suspect, 24-year-old Jamil Cotamora Binasing, was apprehended by the military and police at the house of his grandmother in Barangay Subaan.
Binasing’s location was determined through the assistance of people who relayed the information to Lantawan Vice Mayor Omaer Abubakar.
The suspect was taken to Zamboanga City and presented to
Mayor Khymer Olaso at the Zamboanga City Hall.The suspect pinpointed a Basilan native who operates a business in Zamboanga City as the mastermind who ordered him and his cohort to rob the victims. The suspects were reportedly promised P50,000 each to kill them.
Olaso handed over the reward money to the three informants and ordered police to continue their manhunt to arrest the second suspect.
The mayor lamented the involvement of the mastermind. "You are ruining Zamboanga City. We are here to protect our citizens, and we will not tolerate this kind of behavior."
