Generally fair to partly cloudy weather will prevail across most parts of the country on Black Saturday, April 4, with no tropical cyclone expected in the next two to three days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
According to the agency, easterlies are currently affecting and prevailing over Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
“At kasalukuyan, generally po bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap ang papawirin sa malaking bahagi ng ating bansa (At present, skies are generally partly cloudy to cloudy across a large part of the country),” PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galicia said.
“Wala rin tayong bagyo ngayon na mino-monitor sa loob ng ating area of responsibility, at least in the next two to three days, wala po tayong inaasahan (We are not monitoring any tropical cyclone within our area of responsibility, and at least in the next two to three days, none is expected),” she added.
However, PAGASA said localized rains may still occur, particularly in parts of Mindanao.
“Pero rito, sa eastern section ng Mindanao, mayroon tayong inaasahang maulap na papawirin at mga kalat-kalat na pagbuhos ng ulan, maging pagkidlat at pagkulog sa araw na ito (But in the eastern section of Mindanao, we expect cloudy skies with scattered rains, along with lightning and thunder today),” Dela Cruz-Galicia said.
In Luzon, the state weather bureau noted a lower chance of widespread rains due to suppressed convective activity.
“Pero sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon, suppressed ho ang ating kaulapan ‘yung convective activities dito so mababa po ‘yung tyansa ng mga pag-ulan especially ‘yung widespread o malawakang pag-ulan (But in most parts of Luzon, cloud formation and convective activities are suppressed, so the chance of rainfall, especially widespread or prolonged rains, is low),” she said.
