PDEA: P7.5 B illegal drugs seized in week-long operations

Government anti-narcotics agents seized around P7.5 billion worth of illegal drugs during the nationwide operation from March 6 to 12, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stated.
It said the operations also resulted in the arrest of 107 alleged drug personalities were arrested.
“These operations included buy-busts, interdictions, controlled deliveries, and marijuana eradication missions, striking major drug supply routes and dismantling active distribution networks,’’ the PDEA noted.
The PDEA pointed out that the anti-drug operations represent one of the most significant weekly accomplishments in the ongoing national campaign against illegal drugs, preventing massive quantities of dangerous drugs from reaching Filipino communities.
In a statement, the PDEA stated that anti-illegal drug operations conducted include 57 buy-busts; 14 marijuana eradications; six search and warrant/search and seizure; six interdictions; three search warrants; two recovery/turn-over of suspected illegal drugs and one controlled delivery.
Out of the 107 arrests, 50 were pushers; 29 were drug den visitors/clients; 10 were drug den owners/maintainers; nine were drug den employees, five were possessors and four were importers.
The confiscated illegal and dangerous drugs include 948,670.34 grams of shabu; 853,895.21 grams of marijuana kush; 31,084.12 grams of marijuana dried leaves; 67,070 pieces of uprooted and destroyed marijuana plants; 17,900 grams of marijuana stalks with fruiting tops; 125 milliliters of marijuana oil and 200 pieces of ecstasy.
PDEA Director General Isagani R. Nerez lamented that the weekly anti-drug accomplishments demonstrate the dedication, professionalism, and coordinated strength of the country’s law enforcement community.
“These results reflect the unwavering commitment of our officers and partner agencies in protecting the Filipino people from the dangers of illegal drugs. By removing P7.50 billion worth of illegal drugs from circulation, we have prevented immense harm to our communities. Our operations will continue relentlessly until drug networks are dismantled and our communities are safe,” Nerez emphasized.
Nerez assures that all arrested individuals will face the full force of the law under “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
In conclusion, Nerez asserted that PDEA remains steadfast in its mission and calls for continued public vigilance and cooperation through its PDEA hotlines at 0995-354-7020 and 0931-027-8212, as well as through its social media channels, including the PDEA Facebook page, “Isumbong Mo sa PDEA.”
