On International Women's Day, President Marcos has recognized Filipino women for their contribution to the country's progress, saying that the Philippine progress will always carry their influence.
Thus, Marcos added, they deserve a government that works hard as Filipino women do.
"On International Women’s Day, I want to recognize the Filipino woman. She is a mother, a worker, a leader, and often, she is all of these at the same time," Marcos said in a Facebook post on Sunday, March 8.
"The progress of our nation will always carry the imprint of the Filipina, and she deserves a government that works as hard as she does," Marcos added.
In his official message for the celebration of Women's day, Marcos said long before the contributions of women were formally celebrated, "women were already shaping the course of our history through excellence, courage, and selfless devotion."
"In every woman we see strength with grace and grit with compassion—a force that has always been the heartbeat of every nation, shaping its identity, its values, and its future across generations," Marcos said.
"To be a woman is to carry many responsibilities at once. A Filipina does this with resilience and heart, turning obstacles into opportunities and hardship into hope. Where there is care, there is a woman. Where there is sacrifice, there is a Filipina giving her all so that others may have a better future," Marcos said.
"Much of what women do happens away from recognition, yet it is this steady dedication that keeps our nation strong and moving forward," the President went on.
'Every woman is respected'
The President vowed that under his term, "every woman is heard, respected, and empowered in our society."
"Rest assured that this administration remains steadfast in its commitment to ensure that every woman is heard, respected, and empowered in our society," he said in his message.
"We honor her courage, wisdom, and vital role in nation-building, just as we value her achievements, her leadership, and her presence in our lives," he added.
The Chief Executive further said his administration also committed to continue to open more spaces for women to recognize their full potential.
Marcos also vowed to expand opportunities for Filipino women and committed to continue protecting their rights and access to health services, education, and livelihood programs.
"Under this administration, we will continue to expand opportunities, protect rights, and ensure that every Filipina has access to the health, education, and livelihood programs she needs to thrive," Marcos said. "Mabuhay ang kababaihang Pilipino (Long live the Filipino women)."
This year's International Women's Day, under the theme "Rights. Justice. Action," calls for action to "dismantle all barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls," according to the United Nations (UN).
