Several major roads in Manila will be temporarily closed starting at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, to accommodate a scheduled marathon, the Manila Police District announced.
Among the affected areas are key stretches of Roxas Boulevard, Bonifacio Drive, P. Burgos Avenue, and Jones Bridge, as well as several streets in the Intramuros and Rizal Park areas.
Road closures
The following roads and sections will be closed to traffic beginning 1:30 a.m.:
Northbound lane of Roxas Blvd. from Quirino Ave. to Katigbak Drive, and southbound lane from P. Ocampo Ave. to Katigbak Drive
Bonifacio Drive from Anda Circle to Katigbak Drive
P. Burgos Ave. from Roxas Blvd. to Jones Bridge
Finance Road from P. Burgos Ave. to Taft Ave.
Ma. Orosa St. from P. Burgos Ave. to Kalaw Ave.
Muralla St. from Sta. Lucia St. to A. Soriano Ave.
Sta. Lucia St. from Muralla St. to A. Soriano Ave.
Eastbound lane of A. Soriano Ave. from Muralla and Solana Sts. to Anda Circle
Jones Bridge
Magallanes Drive fronting the Manila Central Post Office from MacArthur Bridge southbound to Jones Bridge northbound
Magallanes Drive fronting the Bureau of Immigration
Westbound lane of Kalaw Ave. from M.H. del Pilar St. to Roxas Blvd.
Westbound lane of Quirino Ave. from Adriatico St. to Roxas Blvd.
Traffic rerouting
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes:
Vehicles from MacArthur and Quezon bridges heading to Roxas Blvd. southbound should use P. Burgos Ave. to Taft Ave.
Vehicles from Kalaw Ave. heading to Roxas Blvd. should turn left onto M.H. del Pilar St.
Vehicles from Ma. Orosa and Mabini streets should turn toward Kalaw Ave. and proceed to Taft Ave.
Vehicles from U.N. Ave. may use the Roxas Blvd. service road
Vehicles from Bonifacio Drive should turn around at Anda Circle
Vehicles from the Binondo Intramuros area should use the westbound A. Soriano Ave.
Vehicles from Plaza Cervantes may take the Escolta underpass or San Vicente St. toward MacArthur Bridge
Heavy vehicles and trailer trucks coming from the Pasay area are required to turn right at Quirino Ave., while those from Mel Lopez Blvd. should use Capulong, Yuseco, and Lacson avenues following the designated truck route.
Authorities advised motorists to plan their trips, expect traffic congestion, and follow traffic personnel on site to avoid delays.
