Easterlies bringing warmer weather, thunderstorms in parts of the Philippines — PAGASA
Warmer temperatures are expected to continue across the country as the easterlies, or winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, remain the prevailing weather system over the archipelago, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday, Feb. 26.
PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia said the easterlies are bringing generally warmer conditions compared to the past weeks and may also trigger a series of thunderstorms in some areas.
Over the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao Oriental, and Zamboanga del Norte due to the easterlies.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mostly caused by localized thunderstorm activity.
De la Cruz-Galicia said no tropical cyclone is currently being monitored within the Philippine area of responsibility and none is expected to develop within the next two to three days.
Moreover, no gale warning has been raised over any of the country’s seaboards, thus small boats and other sea vessels are safe to sail.
