Easterlies bring warm, humid weather across Philippines; amihan may return over weekend — PAGASA
Warm and humid conditions are expected to prevail across the Philippines as the easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, continue to be the dominant weather system in the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said no tropical cyclone or low-pressure area is being monitored within the Philippine area of responsibility.
Over the next 24 hours, generally fair weather will prevail across the country, but warmer and more humid conditions are expected from noon until afternoon.
Dominguez said isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms may still occur, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” currently has no significant effect on the country.
However, Dominguez noted that the amihan may return and affect parts of Luzon over the weekend, although temperatures are not expected to become as cold as during previous monsoon surges.
From Thursday to Sunday, Feb. 26 to March 1, temperature ranges are forecast at 15–25°C in Baguio City; 23–31°C in Laoag City; 22–30°C in Metro Manila; 20–29°C in Tagaytay City; 25–31°C in Puerto Princesa City; 24–31°C in Bacolod City; 24–32°C in Metro Cebu; 23–31°C in Iloilo City; 24–32°C in Metro Davao; 23–32°C in Valencia City; and 24–34°Cin Zamboanga City.
Dominguez also said no gale warning has been raised over any of the country’s seaboards, thus small boats and other sea vessels are safe to sail.
