A large volume of dangerous drugs and counterfeit medicines was seized from three Pakistani nationals during an anti-illegal drug operation in Parañaque City while P1.5 million worth of suspected "shabu" and a clandestine laboratory were uncovered in a separate operation in Valenzuela City on Sunday, Feb. 22, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
In Barangay Sun Valley, Parañaque, PDEA agents arrested Pakistani nationals identified only as "Waseem," 60, "Mohy, 54," and "Salman," 25, at around 12:40 p.m.
Confiscated from the suspects were 24 packages of Midazolam Injection IP, a sedative drug, and thousands of tablets and vials of other similar sedatives like Valium, Nalbin, NLB Injection, Bional Plus and Rivotril.
Various counterfeit drugs were also seized including Ibuprofen Medicol Advance, Rabies Vaccine (Human I.P.), Buscogast, Tuseran Forte, Testosterone Enanthate, Evitek-OCE and Provera Tablets.
"The sedatives, which were the subject of the buy-bust operation, have an estimated street value of P120,000. The total quantity and value of other seized dangerous drugs are still being determined," the PDEA said.
Cash and accounting records were also seized from the suspects while mobile phones, identification cards and passports were recovered.
A barcode scanner and machinery allegedly used in handling counterfeit drugs were also confiscated.
The three suspects were detained at the PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region facility while facing charges under Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
In Valenzuela City, authorities seized around 500 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.5 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Viente Reales at about 4:15 a.m.
The suspect, identified only as 30-year-old "John," was tagged as a high-value target, the PDEA said.
The PDEA recovered from the suspect the buy-bust money used by the agents.
A subsequent search of the area where the suspect was nabbed led to the discovery of a clandestine drug laboratory believed to be used in the manufacture of illegal drugs, the PDEA noted.
The PDEA said that further investigation is being held to determine the extent of the operation and identity of other individuals involved in the illegal drug network.
The suspect faces charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 8 (Manufacture of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165.
