President Marcos said over 423,000 housing units have been built or financed since he assumed office, as he reaffirmed the administration’s push to expand access to safe and affordable homes under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
The President made this statement as he led the awarding of new homes at the Megawide Precast Plant in Taytay, Rizal, which coincided with the seventh anniversary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the lead agency for housing and urban development, established under Republic Act No. 11201 in 2019.
In his speech, the President noted that the government has built and financed more than 423,000 housing units from July 2022 to January 2026.
We have come a long way, but we continue to strive to reach our housing targets in the coming years),” Marcos said.
Marcos said the government is accelerating construction while reforming systems to make home acquisition easier, including lowering interest rates on housing loans through Pag-IBIG Fund.
“At hindi po kami titigil dito (And we will not stop here),” he said, noting that his visit to the Megawide precast plant was meant to showcase modern construction technology.
We will do everything in our capacity so that not only this plant you see now, but more like it will be added to speed up construction and increase the number of homes we can provide),” he added.
The President emphasized that the government will continue to collaborate with the private sector to accelerate production, streamline processes, and expand the reach of our programs.
As long as there are Filipinos dreaming of owning a home, the government will continue to act to support that dream),” he added.
Keys, land titles, and assistance awarded
During the ceremony, Marcos led the turnover of symbolic keys for vertical and horizontal housing units under the Expanded 4PH Program.
He also awarded Certificates of Lot Award and financial assistance for land and site development under the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP).
In addition, the President handed out Certificates of Entitlement to beneficiaries covered by longstanding Presidential Proclamations, granting them security of tenure on land they have occupied for years.
Many of our fellow citizens still rent without security, while others live in homes without adequate protection from disasters. These are the challenges that DHSUD continues to address),” he said.
They represent the families we have helped achieve the dream of security in the land they occupy and renewed hope in a new home),” he added.
The Chief Executive appealed to the beneficiaries to take care of their homes and “fill them with many beautiful memories” with their loved ones.
