TOURISM workers from Aklan receive emergency cash aid. (DSWD-6)
ILOILO CITY – Tourism workers in Aklan province affected by recent weather disturbances received cash aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The DSWD Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) facilitated the release of cash assistance to 89 tourism workers from Malay and Kalibo on Monday, Feb. 9.
Each beneficiary received P10,325 under the DSWD Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program. This will help them recover and meet their basic needs after their livelihoods were affected by bad weather. They are mostly workers in Boracay, the country’s most popular beach destination.
The ECT distribution used the Basta Beripikado Mabilis ang Serbisyo, an online registration platform, utilizing the national ID to verify the beneficiary to prevent fraud and duplication while delivering efficient social services.
