MORE Power studies new technology at US trade conference

ILOILO CITY – MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) of the Razon Group is studying new technology in the power industry in an ongoing trade conference in the United States.
MORE Power, the city’s lone power distributor under Primelectric, is one of the country’s power industry players who attended the Distribution Technology Conference and Exhibit (DTECH) in San Diego, California organized by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).
“We discussed how new technologies are reshaping power distribution systems—particularly at the local or the ‘last-mile’ level that directly serves households and businesses,” said MORE Power President and CEO Roel Z. Castro. “We are grateful to USTDA for inviting us to this conference and for allowing us to learn from global experiences,” Castro added.
“This platform allows us to see how emerging technologies, policies, and regulations are coming together in more advanced power systems,” Castro said.
Among technologies utilized is the Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) that make consumers not only use power, but generate it, including usage of rooftop solar panels, battery storage systems, and electric vehicles.
“We looked closely at how utilities integrate these resources into the distribution network while keeping the system reliable and safe,” Castro said.
Another is reliability and safety of electric grids that adopt advanced digital tools and modern equipment to monitor conditions in real time and prevent outages.
Another key aspect was policies and regulation, especially in balancing innovation with consumer protection and grid stability.
Other Philippine delegates were representatives of the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), and other power industry players.
