University of San Agustin among Top 10 academic institutions for scientific research in Philippines

ILOILO CITY – The University of San Agustin (USA) is among the country’s Top 10 academic institutions for scientific research.

With 53 scientists among its faculty, the USA was ranked eighth nationwide in the AD Scientific Index 2026.

USA was cited “their research productivity, citation influence, and academic contributions.”

As the first university in Western Visayas region, the USA has been one of the key academic partners of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

USA has DOST Balik Scientists leading its research and development (R&D). Among them are Dr. Doralyn S. Dalisay, Dr. Jonel P. Saludes, Dr. Romulo de Castro, and Dr. Noel Peter Tan.

The university has the Center for Natural Drug Discovery (CND3); the Center for Chemical Biology and Biotechnology (C2B2); the Center for Advance New Materials Engineering and Emerging Technologies (CANMEET); and the Center for Informatics (CFI).
