Marcos forms inter-agency body for PH participation in Green Expo 2027

President Marcos has created an inter-agency committee to prepare the Philippines’ participation in the Green Expo 2027 in Japan, Malacañang said.
The President issued Administrative Order No. 41 dated Feb. 4, constituting a Philippine Organizing Committee tasked to facilitate preparations for the country’s involvement in the international event.
Under the order, the heads of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) will serve as chairperson and vice chairperson of the committee, respectively.
Members include the heads of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions.
The Green Expo 2027 is an international horticultural exposition recognized by the Bureau International des Expositions and the International Association of Horticultural Producers.
It will be held in Yokohama, Japan, from March to September 2027 under the theme “Scenery of the Future for Happiness.”
Malacañang said the exposition will provide participating countries opportunities to showcase biodiversity, sustainable agricultural practices, green technologies, eco-tourism initiatives, and cultural heritage.
President Marcos noted that the Philippines’ participation aligns with priorities under the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, particularly the push to transform agriculture toward sustainability and competitiveness and to advance science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development.
The order allows committee officials to designate alternates with ranks not lower than Assistant Secretary and authorizes the creation of subcommittees and engagement with government agencies, private sector groups, non-government organizations, and the academe for technical support.
All government agencies were directed, and local government units and the private sector were encouraged, to cooperate with the committee to ensure the country’s successful participation in the event.
The committee was also instructed to submit quarterly reports to the President through the Executive Secretary and to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) detailing expenses, income, accomplishments, and economic impact, as well as a final report after the expo concludes.
