Chinese envoy meets NBI OIC

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan on Tuesday, Feb. 3, met with the acting director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Jing’s meeting with NBI’s officer-in-charge Angelito Magno came as Manila and Beijing double its efforts to fight criminal activities involving Chinese nationals in the country.
According to the Chinese embassy in Manila, the two sides agreed to maintain close communication and coordination to jointly combat transnational crime.
Their meeting was also aimed at providing more convenient and efficient services to Chinese nationals in the country.
That’s to safeguard and promote normal personnel exchanges between the two countries as well as to advance practical cooperation across various fields, it added.
In mid-2025, authorities said the Philippines became a “battleground” of crimes involving Chinese nationals.
The Philippine government has been deporting Chinese nationals involved in various criminal activities, including Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs) and other illegal businesses.
