Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Monday, Feb. 2, announced the scheduled release of P69.8 million in allowances for public school teachers under the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Manila.
Speaking during the flag-raising ceremony at Manila City Hall, Domagoso said the allowances will benefit 11,633 public school teachers and cover the period from October to December 2025. The release is expected within the week.
The mayor said the payout is part of the city government’s continued support for educators, even as it carefully manages its financial obligations.
Aside from teachers’ allowances, Domagoso also announced the release of P9.68 million in financial assistance for 6,452 Grade 12 public school students, likewise covering the last quarter of 2025.
This brings the total SDO-related disbursements to P79.48 million for the period.
Domagoso said the city remains focused on sustaining education support while gradually improving its fiscal position, noting that long-term planning is necessary to ensure uninterrupted public services.
He also announced additional allowance releases for students enrolled in city-funded universities. A total of P26.03 million will be released for 8,675 students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), covering October to December 2025, while P11.10 million will be released for 5,551 students of the Universidad de Manila (UDM) for allowances from October to November 2025.
Domagoso said the allowance program was institutionalized to help ensure that students, particularly those from financially challenged families, are able to continue their education.
Uniformed personnel will also receive financial support, with P26.03 million allocated for personnel of the Manila Police District (MPD) for the fourth quarter of 2025, and P2.76 million for the Manila Fire District (MFD) for the same period.
Additional allocations include P150,000 for beneficiaries of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) covering October to December 2025, and P3 million for 400 personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), covering allowances from April to June 2025.
In total, Domagoso said the city government will release P155.04 million in allowances and subsidies across the education, public safety, and law enforcement sectors.
