First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan recently met during a Chinese pianist's performance in the country.
Marcos and the Chinese Embassy in Manila respectively posted a photo of the First Lady and the ambassador together during Chinese pianist Lang Lang performance in Manila.
It came amid calls to declare the Chinese envoy persona non grata over his statements against Filipino officials. The call has since been rejected by President Marcos.
On the photo posted by the Chinese Embassy on Sunday , Feb. 1, it wrote: Pleasant talk with First Lady.
The First Lady has also posted a series of photos from the event, including her photograph with the Chinese envoy.
"What a treat to see Lang Lang live in Manila. A beautiful evening of music, mastery and shared moments with so many who came simply to listen and feel his magic," the First Lady said in her post dated Jan. 31.
"Thank you to the organizers who helped make this happen," she added.
It can be recalled that on Jan. 30, the President said "no" to calls declaring the Chinese envoy persona non grata.
Malacañang earlier said that any move to declare Chinese embassy officials persona non grata would be treated as a last resort, stressing that such action carries serious diplomatic consequences and must be carefully weighed.
