The Malabon City government opened its first Mega Job Fair and Livelihood Skills Training for 2026 on Saturday, Jan. 24, offering thousands of job opportunities to residents as part of its employment and livelihood drive.
The initiative was led by Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, former congressman Ricky Sandoval, and city government officials, in partnership with a party-list group, at Malabon City Square.
According to the city’s Public Information Office, the local government partnered with 40 local companies and six overseas firms, which collectively offered more than 7,000 job openings for Malabueños.
Available positions included jobs for seafarers, brand ambassadors, machine operators, clerks, production workers, engineers, electricians, helpers, customer service representatives, drivers, delivery crews, merchandisers, nurses, encoders, and other office- and skills-based work.
Sandoval said the job fair was organized early in the year to immediately provide employment opportunities and help improve the quality of life of residents.
As early as January, we already focused on giving opportunities to those seeking employment so they can improve their lives and support their families),” she said
That is why we partnered with Trabaho Partylist to launch this program and ensure that jobseekers in our city have the opportunity to find work where they can use their skills),” Sandoval added.
Meanwhile, the city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) set up a one-stop shop during the event, allowing job seekers to process requirements from various government agencies, including the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Security System (SSS), Philippine National Police (PNP), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
PESO said applicants who were hired on the spot were able to process their documents free of charge.
Aside from job matching, the city government also conducted livelihood and skills training during the event. Participants were taught how to make dishwashing liquid, perform basic air-conditioning maintenance, and engage in hydroponics, which the city said could serve as additional sources of income.
City Administrator Alexander Rosete said the local government remains committed to strengthening livelihood opportunities and helping residents build sustainable sources of income.
We are not only giving them the chance to apply for jobs, but also equipping them with skills they can use to earn a living),” Rosete said.
The Malabon City government is ready to help strengthen the livelihoods of our people)," he added.
