Black Nazarene devotees may need to prepare for cloudy skies, moderate to strong winds, and possible rain showers during the 2026 Traslacion, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday, January 8.
In its special weather forecast, PAGASA said Metro Manila is expected to experience mostly cloudy to cloudy skies throughout the day, with intermittent rain possible along the procession route in Quiapo on January 9.
From midnight until early morning, weather conditions are expected to be mostly cloudy, with moderate to strong northeast winds from the northeast monsoon or "amihan."
As the procession continues into the morning, skies will remain mostly cloudy, with occasional light rain showers.
PAGASA said weather conditions may become less favorable from late morning until early afternoon, when rain showers and strong winds are more likely.
During this period, the heat index could reach as high as 29 degrees Celsius.
By late afternoon until evening, skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy with moderate to strong winds, while rain activity is forecast to gradually ease.
PAGASA said weather conditions are expected to improve by nighttime, with lighter winds and partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
Devotees were reminded to stay alert to changing weather conditions, bring rain protection, and take necessary precautions against both heat and sudden rain during the Traslacion.
