The Philippine government is monitoring the situation of Filipinos in Iran after a deadly protest erupted in the Islamic Republic.
Through the Philippine Embassy in Tehran, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday, Jan. 2, said it is monitoring the conditions of around 800 Filipinos in the country.
There are no Filipinos reported to be affected so far, the agency said.
"Members of the Filipino community are advised to avoid unnecessary movements, especially into crowded areas," the DFA said.
Three individuals were reportedly killed and at least 17 were injured when the unrest erupted in Iran, stemming from worsening economic conditions in the country.
"Filipinos in Iran who need assistance may reach the Embassy via email at [email protected] or its emergency mobile, WhatsApp, or Viber number at +989122136801," DFA said.
