ILOILO CITY – The Department of Tourism (DOT) has accredited The Medical City (TMC) Iloilo here for medical tourism.
DOT-6 Regional Director Crisanta Marlene "Krisma" Rodriguez recently handed over the accreditation certificate to TMC Iloilo CEO Dr. Felix Ray Villa.
This made TMC Iloilo as the only hospital accredited for medical tourism not only in Iloilo province but also in Western Visayas region.
“This milestone positions Iloilo as an emerging destination for medical tourism, where world-class healthcare is seamlessly combined with the warmth of Ilonggo hospitality and the city’s vibrant culture,” said TMC Iloilo in a statement.
The accreditation is aligned with the renewed push of the Iloilo City government as a premier site for medical and wellness tourism in the country and Southeast Asia.
With the accreditation, TMC Iloilo is ready to welcome patients from other parts of the world.
“With internationally aligned standards, patient-centered care, and a growing ecosystem of travel and wellness partners, we welcome local and international patients seeking quality care and a healing experience,” TMC Iloilo added.
For this year, TMC Iloilo was able to successfully perform the first intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) heart procedure in Western Visayas.
With its services, TMC Iloilo has been recognized on the national and international levels.
Last November, TMC Iloilo won at the 2025 Asian Innovation Excellence Awards. It was declared the Philippines Business Service Innovation of the Year- Healthcare (Emergency Medical Services Program) and Philippines Culture Innovation of the Year- Healthcare (Excellent Patient Experience Program).
Early in the year, Healthcare Asia in Malaysia awarded TMC Iloilo as the Secondary Hospital of the Year.
