LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The 33rd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree is underway in San Juan, Botolan town, Zambales province.
More than 1,000 security personnel have been deployed to implement heightened security during the event from Dec. 14 to 21, the Police Regional Office-3 said.
Eight-hundred personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) are complemented by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and force multipliers from partner agencies and local stakeholders.
They are conducting venue security, traffic management, crowd control, emergency response, fire safety, and other public safety functions.
Police Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., PRO-3 chief, said the comprehensive security coverage reflects the region’s preparedness to host a major international event and highlights the strong coordination among law-enforcement and support agencies.
Zambales police chief Police Col. Benjamin Ariola said they have monitored no untoward incidents so far in the event.
Meanwhile, the Tarlac Provincial Police Office apprehended 55 individuals during a province-wide anti-crime operation from Dec. 8 to 14.
Nineteen were arrested for illegal gambling, 14 for illegal drugs, 21 for various crimes and violations of special laws, and one by virtue of a search warrant.
Police Col. Franklin Estoro, Tarlac police chief, said they will continuously maximize their efforts and remain persistent in the fight against criminality to attain a peaceful community to live, work, and do business.
