A night of enchanting music at 'OST Symphony II: K-Drama in Concert'
The audience relived the songs from their favorite Korean shows including “Crash Landing on You” and “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God: at the “OST Symphony II: K-Drama in Concert.”
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) led by Maestro Herminigildo Panera and Concertmaster Kim Mijung, and four guest singers–Kyline Alcantara and Angel Guardian from the Philippines, and Yegny and Isaac Hong from South Korea–wowed the crowd with their performances at the concert held on Oct. 25 at Samsung Hall at SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
Gracing the OST concert were Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-hwa; Kaye Tinga, president of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP); Joseph Bernan Corpuz, deputy executive director of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA); Kim Myeongjin, director of the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines; and Joaquin San Agustin, executive vice president for marketing of SM Supermalls.
Also in attendance were Austrian Ambassador to the Philippines Johann Brieger, Colombian Ambassador to the Edgar Rodrigo Rojas Garavito, Palestinian Ambassador to the Philippines Mounir Y.K. Anastas. Usec. Ma. Theresa Dizon-De Vega and Asec. Secretary Celia Anna Feria of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano.
The PPO performed some of the most iconic OSTs from Korean dramas including the “Way Back Then” from the hit series “Squid Game”; “Woo Young-woo, the Same Backwards and Forwards” from “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”; “You Are My Everything” from “Descendants of the Sun”; and "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds” from “Love in the Moonlight.”
Alcantara, an actress and singer, performed the English version of “My Destiny” from the Philippine adaptation of “My Love from the Star.”
Guardian, a singer, actress and model, sang “Bagong Tadhana” from "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre."
Yegny performed “Golden” from “KPop Demon Hunters,” "Beautiful Life” from “Goblin,” “Starry Pieces” from “You Are the Apple of My Eye,” “Sudden Shower” from “Love Runner” and “Diamond” from “Itaewon Class.” She appeared on Korean TV shows “K-Pop Star 2,” “Sing Again” and “King of Masked Singer.”
Hong performed “Fallin’” from “Queen of Tears,” “Au Revoir” from “Da Capo,” “In You” from “Our Unwritten Seoul,” and “My Love By My Side” from “When Life Gives You Tangerines.”
“I never expected coming here to sing. So it’s very weird and very fun, interesting to stand here to meet you guys and sing,” said Hong.
The PPO also performed “Onara” from “Jewel in the Palace,” “I Will Go to You Like the First Snow” from “Goblin,” “Pavilion” from “Behind the White Tower,” “Endless Story” from “The World of the Married,” “Mr. Sunshine” from “Mr. Sunshine,” “Song for my Brother” from “Crash Landing on You” “In My Heart” from “King the Land” and “All In” theme from “All In.”
The “OST Symphony II: K-Drama in Concert” was presented by KCC in the Philippines, Cultural CCP and NCCA in partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila Office, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), SM Supermalls, Viu Philippines, and GMA.
