PDEA: Brazilian nabbed in foiled P10 M liquid cocaine smuggling attempt at NAIA

Government anti-narcotics authorities arrested on Friday, Oct. 24, a Brazilian national for allegedly attempting to smuggle around P10 million worth of liquid cocaine during an interdiction operation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
In a statement, the PDEA said the 32-year old female Brazilian was apprehended at around 5 p.m. at the NAIA Terminal 3 Customs International Arrival Area.
During the search, authorities intercepted approximately 1,899 grams of suspected liquid cocaine placed in 10 knot-tied transparent latex pieces filled with yellowish substance concealed in a black brassiere labeled “DelRio.”
Aside from the liquid cocaine, the anti-narcotics teams also seized the suspect’s Brazilian passport, boarding documents, foreign currencies, assorted bank cards, cellphones and other personal belongings.
The PDEA noted that the confiscated substance has been submitted to the PDEA Laboratory Service for qualitative and quantitative examination with the suspect currently under its custody.
The arrested suspect faces charges for violation of Section 4 (Importation of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
