Jang Hae-young, the main vocalist of Korean boy group F-IV, passed away on Oct. 6. He was 45.
On Oct. 10, F-IV member Kim Hyun-soo announced Jang Hae-young’s passing on his Instagram account.
“We first met when I was 10. We were always together in our teens and twenties. We even got to do F-IV. You were always confident, good-looking, and so good at dancing, singing, and dancing. I always secretly envied you,” Kim Hyun-soo wrote.
He added, “Thanks to you, I was able to become a singer and a composer. I feel like I've never done it properly. Thank you, Jang Hae-young. RIP.”
“Farewell. Let's sing again when we meet again in heaven,” he wrote.
Jang Hae-young died after battling cancer, Korean media reported.
Born in 1981, Jang Hae-young majored in Korean dance at the Korea National University of Arts and debuted as the main vocalist of the four-member group F-IV in 2002.
F-IV won the Rookie of the Year (group category) in 2003 at the KMTV Korean Music Awards.
Jang Hae-young continued singing as a solo artist and released a single in 2009. In 2016, F-IV performed on the JTBC TV show “Two Yoo Project Sugar Man.”
At the time, he said, "I'm working as a freelancer in the investment industry while continuing my project group activities."
