BACOLOD CITY – Face-to-face classes on all levels in this highly urbanized city were suspended on Friday, Oct. 10, due to the magnitude-7.4 earthquake in the Davao region.
Mayor Greg Gasataya encouraged schools to shift to modular distance learning and performance tasks and projects to ensure that learning competencies are met.
The class suspension was pursuant to the recommendations of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of Bacolod City after the tremor was also felt in some areas of this city.
Kabankalan City also felt the earthquake, prompting government employees at the City Hall, and students of Kabankalan Catholic College (KCC) to evacuate. The school suspended face-to-face classes for safety.
Classes will resume until further notice.
