ICI denies tapping third party for flood control projects probe

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) on Friday, Oct. 3, denied approaching any third party for help in its investigation on anomalous flood control projects.

In a statement sent to reporters by ICI Executive Director Brian Hosaka, ICI said it was categorically denying claims being made online that it had sought the assistance of Task Force Kasanag International, which is led by Jong Chong.

"The ICI has not authorized, deputized or engaged Task Force Kasanag International, or any group led by Mr. Jong Chong, in any capacity related to its investigations," it said.

The Palace-created body said online reports about such were "entirely true and should not be given credence".

ICI said it will also request the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the matter and file appropriate charges against those responsible for spreading these "false and misleading information that undermines the Commission's work".

"The ICI wishes to assure the public that it conducts its mandate with independence, impartiality and professionalism. Any official partnerships or deputations are announced only through the Commission's authorized channels," it said.
