Smart launches Philippines' first app-based mobile brand KiQ
Mobile services provider Smart Communications Inc. is kicking into the next gear of the telecommunications industry with the launch of KiQ, the country’s first app-based mobile brand designed with Gen Z in mind.
Smart, the wireless unit of telecommunications giant PLDT Inc., said its new service offers a personalized digital telco experience that is poised to “revolutionize the Philippine telco landscape.”
“Filipino Gen Zs are redefining how they live, share, and stay connected. With KiQ, we’re giving them a mobile experience that puts them in full control,” said Smart Chief Operating Officer (COO) Anastacio “Boy” Martirez.
“This is what the future of mobile looks like,” he underscored.
Through the KiQ app, subscribers can choose their data allocation, whether to have calls and texts, and the length of their plan validity to match with their mobile lifestyle.
The full control and flexibility expand into allowing subscribers to choose their own number.
Aside from personalization, KiQ offers a prioritized network experience for users in high-traffic areas, ensuring that connection is reliable even during peak usage times.
Smart said this ensures faster browsing and seamless streaming when and where it matters most for Gen Z users.
“We’re not just launching a new mobile brand, we’re revolutionizing the telco industry with a game-changing experience attuned to the next generation of mobile users,” said Martirez.
“We invite Filipino Gen Zs to take control, express themselves, and embrace mobile freedom with KiQ,” he added.
To access KiQ, users must first download its app on Google Play Store or Apple App Store and then purchase an eSIM for ₱99.
KiQ marks Smart’s first implementation of QR-less eSIM activation, eliminating the need to scan a QR code via email.
