QC gov't condemns killing of 8-year-old girl in Novaliches, vows justice

The Quezon City Government has condemned the killing of an 8-year-old girl whose body was found in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches on Sunday, August 3.
In a statement released on Monday, August 4, the city government expressed regret for the incident and assured the public that the case will be taken seriously.
“Lubos na ikinalulungkot ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Quezon ang sinapit ng isang 8-anyos na batang babae na natagpuang wala nang buhay sa Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches (The Quezon City Government deeply regrets the fate of an 8-year-old girl who was found dead in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches),” it said.
“Mariin naming kinokondena ang karumal-dumal na insidenteng ito. Nakikiisa kami sa pagdadalamhati ng pamilya ng biktima at sinisigurado naming hindi ito palalampasin. Walang puwang ang anumang uri ng karahasan sa lungsod. Titiyakin naming mananaig ang hustisya (We strongly condemn this heinous incident. We stand in solidarity with the victim's family and assure them that this will not be overlooked. There is no room for any kind of violence in the city. We will ensure that justice prevails),” it added.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.
The Quezon City Social Services Development Department (SSDD) has been directed to assist the victim’s family.
Psychological debriefings will also be held for the victim’s classmates and teachers, in coordination with the Schools Division Office of Quezon City.
The city government also called on the public to refrain from spreading false or unverified information related to the case.
“Hinihikayat rin namin ang publiko na umiwas sa pagpapakalat ng maling impormasyon, haka-haka, o tsismis na maaaring makasira sa dignidad ng biktima at sa integridad ng isinasagawang imbestigasyon (We also encourage the public to refrain from spreading false information, speculation, or rumors that may damage the dignity of the victim and the integrity of the ongoing investigation),” it said.
Barangay officials and police personnel have been instructed to intensify patrols and monitoring to help ensure the safety of communities, especially children.
