Government anti-narcotics authorities foiled on Wednesday, July 30, the smuggling attempt of around five kilos of ketamine during an interdiction operation at the Port of Clark, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stated.
The PDEA Clark team leader said that the parcel containing drugs originated in Belgium was discovered at around 11:12 a.m. during the search.
Upon further search, the PDEA noted that the drugs were concealed in six rolls of data cable, a move seen as an effort to evade detection.
Authorities said that the interdiction operation was launched following a tip relayed by the PDEA Investigation Service (IS) to the PDEA Central Luzon Office, alerting them of the arrival of a ketamine-laden parcel at the Port of Clark.
The ketamine arrived at the Port of Clark on July 24.
The samples of the seized substance drugs were transported to the PDEA Region 3 laboratory for forensic examination and confirmatory analysis.
