Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez led an inspection of critical waterways in the city to assess the current conditions and identify areas requiring urgent intervention following recent heavy rains that caused widespread flooding on Saturday, July 26.
Olivarez was joined by City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) head, Bernie Amuaro, who inspected sheet piles and booster pumping station along Dr. A Santos Avenue; Salt Lake Medical Center sheet piles that collapsed, C5 retaining walls, and the Gatchalian booster pumping station, all located in Barangay San Dionisio.
He also conducted an inspection on retaining wall sheet piles that collapsed along Roxas Boulevard in Barangay Baclaran and a drainage inspection along A. Bonifacio Extension in Palanyag, Barangay San Dionisio.
The mayor also conducted a house-to-house inspection in Barangay San Dionisio, where the Gatchalian booster pumping station is located, to assess the damage to houses in the area and ensure the safety of its residents.
Olivarez said the inspection was made to determine the damages brought by habagat for immediate intervention and will guide the city in deploying for declogging and dredging.
He said it was also made to prevent the further spread of flooding and ensure to always maintain the safety of residents.
